Hoosier Southern Railroad provides service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to handle the rail needs of our customers, connecting carriers and the Tell City River Port. Our dedicated employees take pride in providing the best customer-focused rail service. Each employee is a part of a team that looks for new and innovative ways to provide excellence in rail service, competitive rates, with safety as a top priority.  The HOS has been recognized annually with numerous safety awards for our exemplary performance.

  • 22 miles of rail operated in Perry and Spencer counties
  • Operations are Monday through Friday between the City of Cannelton, IN, Perry County, to Lincoln City, IN, Spencer County
  • HOS interchanges in Lincoln City with Norfolk Southern Railway (NS)
  • We are equipped to handle 286,000 rail cars
  • Team tracks are available in Tell City, Troy, and Lamar, IN
  • HOS owns two GP-15’s, eight Gondolas, four Open Top Hopper rail cars
  • Our railway serves the auto, sand and chemical industries

Tell City River Port

Tell City River Port (TCRP) is located along the Ohio River in Tell City, Indiana, giving customers quick access to water, rail, and highway. Our strategic location allows us to receive barge traffic from the Ohio River, Great Lakes, and Gulf of Mexico ports.  TCRP’s public Port is served by various barge lines, and we offer comprehensive services, including the transloading, handling and storage of bulk material.

  • The Port is comprised of nearly 38 acres with 3300 feet of Ohio River frontage
  • approximately 75,000 square feet of concrete/asphalt padding for outside storage needs
  • additional 46,000 square feet of indoor storage for bulk material

Perry County Port Authority

Perry County Authority

The Perry County Port Authority (PCPA) owns and operates both the Hoosier Southern Railroad and the Tell City River Port. We are looking to partner with companies who are relocating or starting operations, to aid in successful expansions and an establishment in the hub of the Midwest. New customers will find working with HOS and TCRP to be very easy in providing rail-served industrial and storage sites with rail, truck and water access.

The PCPA works closely with the Perry County Development Corporation and the Lincolnland Economic Development Corporation to offer:
